Indians Into Medicine
UND has directed the INMED staff to work remotely for the immediate future. Please know we are always here for you and will continue our work of INMED: to improve the health of Native Americans through education and mentoring. Our priority is to ensure safe participation in INMED programming. We are planning to hold our summer programs via distance instruction and are working on incorporating remote learning strategies for all students. These programs include: Summer Institute, MCAT Prep, CLIMB, and NEURO.
The Indians Into Medicine Program (INMED™) is a comprehensive program designed to assist American Indian students who aspire to be health professionals to meet the needs of our tribal communities.
Program Purpose and History
INMED is a comprehensive education program assisting American Indian students who are preparing for health careers.
The program addresses three major problem areas:

Too few health professionals in American Indian communities

The substandard level of health and health care in American Indian communities
INMED was established in 1973 to address the need for health professionals to serve reservation populations. INMED is a viable means of supplying these health professionals. The program is located where American Indian health needs are the greatest. American Indian populations on the 24 reservations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska are among the most underserved in the country.
